Her initial inspiration was shadows reflected on grass. Months later, she developed a method that did not create the object she chose on the canvas as an unflat image. The object becomes a representation that is its own with the canvas carrying the painterly interpretation of the object, especially when it is a living thing or food item, like people or fruit. Alexa Meade's painting style, that is a bit ephemeral in its nature, can be seen. The only thing of her art to survive is the photograph. Both the painting and photographic methods are tightly interwoven and result in nothing but a two-dimensional flat space that achieves trompe l'oeil. The third dimension can only be seen within certain places that are close to the eyes or hair. Meade has also integrated her models painted by Meade into the space of 3D that surrounds them. The interaction between them and the created environment is conceivable. Through this, Meade has removed the borders between photography, painting and performance.
